On 2 July 1826 a William S. Shorter was born in Yates Co., New York and was married to Harriet Rozella Cressy. William's parents were supposedly killed in a Indian massacre when he was only ten years old which would make it about 1836. He was then taken in by the Cressy family as a orphan. My question is who were his parents and where did the massacre take place? I know the Cressy's ended up in Prairieville Twp. Barry Co.and William went to Emmet Co., Mich. Thank you. William L.
