I would like all information related to Elias Knowles and Sarah Ellen Coleman Knowles who lived in Effingham, IL in the 1870's. They had at least three boys, William E., James A., and Harry W. They were married in 1858 in Indiana. They were divorced in Effingham in September of 1873. Elias served in the Union Army. I've heard that the divorce records were destroyed by an ex-employee of the courthouse, Mamie Knowles, although the cardfile still contains the date. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
