I'm trying to find information about George Marris, my grandfather. I know he was Christened 22 Aug 1833 at Wootton, Lincoln, England. His parents were Charles Marris born about 1811 Great Coates, Lincoln, England and Ann born about 1806 Great Coates, Lincoln, England. George had a sister Ann Philadelphia born 1829; a brother William born 1827, died 1827; a sister Maria born 1831; George born 1833; a brother William born 1836; a brother Charles born 1839 and a sister Mary born 1826. All of the children except Mary were Christened in Wootten, Lincoln, England. For Mary all I have is she was born 7 July 1826 Great Coates, Lincoln, England. I don't have anything on her Christening. I know that George married Jamima Addy in Akron, Summit County, Ohio on 17 March 1854. I have not been able to find George on any ship list to come to America. I also know that Jamima Addy came to America on the Ship Joseph Walker 13 June 1853 with her mother Sarah, age 50, who died at sea of Consumption and a sister Sarah age 11. Their destination was Cleveland, Ohio. I would like to know; was their father already in America, what was his name, what became of her sister Sarah and was there any other children in her family, how did she meet George, did they know each other in England, did George come to America by himself or with other family? I have been told that Jamima came from Hull, England. I know George and Jamima had 11 children of which 8 were living in 1921 at the time of Jamima's death in Lake City, MI at the home of her son George Harry Marris. What was George Marris' mother Ann's maiden name? I would appreciate any information on George Marris or his family and on Jamima Addy and her family.
