A friend recommended that I try posting a query about my great grandfather Carl Peter Persson (as named in Sweden) and changed to Charles Peter Perison in America (found variations to that spelling: Persson, Person, Pearson. I have traced him from birth (28 May 1857) to emigration (his wife and 3 children have emigration papers showing they left Sweden in 1895 but have not found any papers for Carl (charles). But he did leave BEFORE 1890 as he was listed as a "night watchman at Erie County Almshouse" (buffalo, New York in 1890.) Source: Ancestry.com. I have a copy of his passport application where he listed Chicago as his first stop before moving to the Buffalo, NY area. I have tracked him and his family there from 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930. and found out that he died in 1947. My best guess would be from the years 1888-1890 he was in the Chicago area. Can anyone help? Would there be something like a directory or city tax records that would have listed him? transportation records (headed for BUffalo, etc). In 1888- he would be 31 years old. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
