I am interested in finding out information about my great-great-grandparents, Augustus Albert Haas and his wife, Emiline (Emma) White. They were married in Muskingum Co Ohio, on June 21, 1866. They had at least 8 children, William, Augustus, Albert (my great-grandfather), Flora, Dorathy, Emma, Luluanna (Lula), Phillip and Minnie (m. Olin Roller). Emma's father was Alexander White. Her mother was also named Emiline. Supposed Augustus came to the US as a child on his own from Germany. Emma's parents were also from Germany (Hamburg) but they changed their name from Wit (Wyss, Whayte, Weiss) or something similar. Albert married Olive Hays, daugther of Margaret Thompson and John Benjamin (JB) Hays. JB was a tailor (he used buttons with JB Hays written on them). His shop was on Main Street in Wellsville, OH. John was the son of John Hays who was born in Edinburgh Scotland. His wife's name is unknown. John Hays and his wife are probably buried in a cemetery near Wellsville. I am also looking for information about the parents of both John B. Hays and Margaret (Maggie) Thompson. John and Maggie were married 25 February 1875 in Columbiana Co. OH. Their children were William (Willie) also a tailor (moved to Georgia), Maude, Omar Dallas and Mary (I believe she married Ed Groves). Mary and Ed may have lived on Aten Ave. in Wellsville. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
