John Dickson or Dixon (ca 1822 - 1904) and Hannah Kirby (ca 1822 - 1898) came from either Northumberland or Yorkshire, England, to Ontario, Canada before 1851. They lived in Halton County, Muskoka County ( Stisted Township ), and Grey County ( Normanby Township ) John was a farmer, miller, deputy reeve, councillor and possibly merchant and postmaster. He and his sons built saw and grist mills at Gleneden in Normanby Twp, Grey Co. I am descended from their son, Joseph Harvey Dickson, born 1843, who married Sarah Cartwright, born ca 1846. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
