Surname(s): |
JORDAN : PHILLIPS | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
JORDAN, Tom, originally from Ireland. Born approx. 1800-1810. Married, we think, Elizabeth "Lou" PHILLIPS, who was born in SC. Tom and Elizabeth JORDAN's first child, Emaline, was born in NC in about 1833. After that, they moved to east TN. They lived in Bledsoe and Roane Co. and in other counties. All their other children were born in TN. The last child, James Thomas JORDAN, was born in 1850. In the 1850 census, Tom is not mentioned, so he may have died by then. All we know is that Tom JORDAN was from Ireland (we don't know where in Ireland and don't know when he came to America). He had red hair and a big red beard. He spoke with a brogue so thick, his grandchildren could not understand him. He was away from his family most of the time. His wife, Elizabeth, is listed only as Elizabeth in the census records of 1850 & 1860. Her maiden name is not given, but elderly cousins say that her name was "Lou Phillips" and that she was from SC. The census records state that she was born in SC. If you know anything about either of these people, we would appreciate hearing from you. THANK YOU! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
