i am trying to connect with descendants of the DIAZ Family from Cibuco, Corozal, Puerto Rico. my mother's paternal Great Grandfather was Gabriel Diaz who married Juana Marrero and later Encarnacion Diaz. He had 8 children from Juana and 4 from Encarnacion. my grandfather from the 1st marriage was Emilio Diaz-Marrero who married my grandmother Antonia Diaz Virella de Diaz. From the maternal side my great father was Manuel Diaz-Zaragoza, born abt. 1855 who married Evangelista Virella Diaz de Diaz (daughter of Ricardo Rivera and Ramona de Virella (she was born in Spain Abt. 1861 and died in Cibuco Corozal, PR. my grandmother from ths union was Antonia Diaz Virella de Diaz born in abt. 1889. Antonia married Emilio Diaz Marrero, they were cousins, they fathered 6 children. The children of Manuel and Evangelista were 11. It is said that Zaragoza was the primary origin of the first Diaz to come to Puerto Rico, connections to Catalunya have also been mentioned. I am in the process of tracking this lineage back to Spain and would like to know of anyone that may have a kinship to what i have written. Diaz is not a very common name and many of those from Corozal migrated to various parts of the island as well as the US.
