I am compiling a family tree for Robert OLIPHANT who was born in Scotland about 1770. His wife was either Jean SHERRATT or Ann Sheret, we are not certain as to the exact spelling as different records have either. We would especially value information about Robert and his wife and their parents and siblings. Of their children we only know John, b 1805. John married Mary Ann MITCHELL (of whom we would like to know more) and they had Hellen, James, John Laurence and Alexander. John Laurence OLIPHANT may have gone to South Africa. James married Mary MILNE and they had Mary Eliza, David Alexander, James Alexander, and John Milne. David and James came to Australia and settled near Boonah in Queensland. David (m Mary Anne WRIGHT and had Mary Agnes (GRAY), David James Alexander, Harriet Isabella (PARKER), Hilda May (PROUT), Ivy Hope(MUSCH), Gertrude Victoria (DAVID), and Ronald Edison) and James (m Blanche APPLEGATE) We would like to find the descendents of James (who had at least 1 child - James). Also, some of the Milnes came to Australia and settled at Kiama in NSW, one of the men becoming a police officer. We would like to trace this branch of the family also. We also have photos of a Mary MOUG in Scotland who is recorded as being a cousin of H. Oliphant. We would like to be able to trace the connection.
