My great grandmother – Zophia Socha Placek was married to Josef Placek. They had 3 children; Julia born about 1898, Kamila (Amelia in America) (my grandmother) born on October, 30, 1900 and Charles born about 1896. On Zophia’s Ship Manifest it says that Zophia, Julia and Kamila were on the Imperator ship and sailed from Hamburg, Germany and arrived in the United States on October 29, 1913. On the document it listed the nearest living relative as Zophia’s sister Apolonja Niziolek. The last place they lived was in Swoszowa, Austria. I understand Poland was divided many times over the years between Germany, Russia and Austria. Zophia Placek, born April 17th 1867 in Poland and died on March 8, 1946 in Platte Center, Nebraska, USA. Her daughter, Julia Placek Sliva, gave the information for her death certificate. Her parents were listed as Jacob Socha from Swoszowa, Austria/Poland and her mother Sophia Augustine from Poland. Joseph Placek, born on September 16, 1865 in Jaslo, Poland and died in Omaha, Nebraska, USA on August 20, 1947. His father is listed as Casper, Placek from Poland. Thank you very much.
