Am seeking information regarding ORR family, who from what I know appear to be a military family, but possibly originating from Glasgow Scotland. I don;t have a great deal of info about the family. My greatgrandfather, James Stewart, had sister Ann Stewart who married William Orr. William was supposedly born in Malaysia/Malaya or possibly India. There is possibility that William had brother Robert who may have settled in USA as well. Someone in Orr family is thought to have fought in Boer War in South Africa. The name Christina Paxton Orr is in the family somewhere--although don;t know if this is William and Robert's sister or mother's name. William was stonemason and came to Cleveland Ohio with wife, son (John--died as a child) and my grandmother (then 8 years old, named Christina Reid Stewart--but may have taken name of Christina Orr when they entered into USA), circa 1908. A daughter was born to William and Ann--her name was Annette (b c. 1908-1910). Annette married someone with French-sounding name--possibly Schampead (various spellings). Possibly William and family lived in Lake County Ohio for a while. If anyone has any info regarding Orr family--however insignificant it is!--please contact me at lakastner@usa.net. This has been a major roadblock in my genealogy search for many years. Any assistance greatly appreciated. thanks, Lois Kastner lakastner@usa.net 11/12/05 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
