I am trying to trace my family history, but am geeting stuck when it comes to my great-grandfather? My GRANDFATHER'S name is Johnnie W. Foxworth, DOB: 9/1/06, DOD: 1/1/88. I was told he was born down South (Bessemer, Alabama) and that his family moved to Atlanta, but the records show his Soc Sec Card was appiled for in Ohio-Cleveland?) My grandfather's siblings were: Margaret Foxworth-who died in December 1984 in Cleveland, Ohio-she had twin that either died at birth or at a very early age. My grandfather's brothers were: Henry, Emery and stanley Foxworth-all deceased. I am unable to find any records on his brothers-other than Henry died at Metro Hospital-which may have been called Booth Memorial at the time, in Cleveland, Ohio. Now here is the tricky part, my grandfather's mother is Virginia Savannah Robinson-who supposedly married Colie Foxworth. I can't find a single thing on Colie Foxworth, however my living grandmother (Sylvia Foxworth, the wife of my deceased grandfather-Johnnie Foxworth) assured me of the name Colie Foxworth-because she told me that when my father was born-who's name is Colie Foxworth also, that Virginia named my dad-after who she said her husband's name was? Another thing that is making my search a little hard is the fact that I am African-American, and my foxworth family, who now mostly resides in Cleveland, Ohio-I have a few relatives in Atlanta-are all African-American-but I have seen pictures of my great-grandmother and she appears to be Caucasian-my grandmother also told me that some of my grandfather's siblings may have been listed as Caucasian at birth. I did find one of my grandfather's brothers wife-a Helen Mabel Foxworth-who was married to Henry I believe. Helen was white, an died in 1995 in Akron, Summit County, Ohio. I was able to find a brief newspaper article that stated she was survived by one brother, and Edward Szachal of Massachusetts? Helen had no children. I was able to also foind out that my great-grandmother-Virginia Savanna Foxworth (maiden name Robinson) had a brother or uncle name LG Robinson who helped start the Angeles Funeral home on Crenshaw in Los Angeles. I was bale to find the funeral's homes web page only to find out that LG Robinson had died some years agao. I have no idea what the LG stands for, and at one point I had emailed to funeral home to ask about any info on LG Robinson-but they did not respond. I found out that there is property in Jefferson County, Alabama that belonged tp Virginia Foxworth. So my quest continues to try and find the husband of Virginia Savanna Foxworth. They may have started out in Alabama-but possible moved to Atlanta, but since the funeral home of her brother/uncle is in Los Angeles, she may have spent time there too-but we are in Ohio. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
