I am searching for the parents of Carrington Dixon, b. abt. 1797 d.aft 1854. Found him in the 1830-40 census French Lick, Orange Co. Indiana. m. Rachel Williams Aug. 25,1822. My GGgrandfather; John William Dixon-Dixson was born 1824 Orange Co. In. Also, in the minutes of the Walnut Creek Church (Friends Church)Jewell Co. Ks. said Carrington and Rachel Dixon were the parents of John William Dixson-Dixon. Does anyone know how to find or have access to the minutes of the French Lick (Friends Church) in Paola, Orange Co. Indiana. All I have found is when they got married 1822 and in 1830,1840 census. In the 1850 census, it shows Rachel Dixon with the children. John William Dixon married Ruth Dishon in 1845. Ruth Dishon Dixon d. 1860 in Paola, Ind. but not in the cemetery records. John m. her sister, Elizabeth in 1861 and they moved to Iowa then Washington Co. Kansas, then Jewell Co. Ks. John William Dixon is buried in Norton Co. Ks in 1903. The 1860 census shows Rachel Dixon in Paoli, Orange Co Ind. . She was b. Feb. 22,1804 in NC. 1880 census Adair Co. MO. Rachel Dixon 76 f w NC living with Wheeler Dixon and daughter Rachel Dixon 13. 1883 received war pension. 1854 letter to John & Nathan Dixon, French Lick, Orange Co. Indiana. From John Dixson, New Market, Va or NC. Tells about the area and a wood road built, ask about the (Neffews), says brother Carrington was living 4 miles from him. John Dixson was a blacksmith(smith) and was building a wagon for Carrington at the time. If this John Dixson is a brother to Carrington, Carrentan, Carnton Dixon, then the John Dixon that married Rebecca Johnson in 1780 is the father to Simon, John and Carrington, Carrentan Dixon. No paperwork has been found except the 1854 letter which I have copies. Anyone who wanted to see this Dixon line can type "Descendants of Carrington Dixon" in Search. There are 70 or so pages if you print this! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
