Thomas Franklin (Frank)Hays m. Nancy Elizabeth Martin in Douglas County, Missouri in the early 1860s. Looking for information about his death (between 1870 and 1880), date of death & marriage, where buried and any record or details about his murder. Last shows on the 1870 Fed Missouri Census, Douglas County, Jackson. A letter dated 1929 from his son Benjamin Franklin Hays to his grandson Cecil Stanley Hays states that Frank had a farm on Bryant Creek, near the mouth of Fox Creek, about 3 miles from Rockbridge. This is where he was shot by 2 young men from the area (George Dunnigan (Dunagan?) and Willis Roseberry) over a dispute about a Mulberry tree. Have a 2nd account of the incident in a taped interview from 1988 with a relative Zola Coy who was 92 at the time. Have info to share. Carol | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
