Trying to locate birthplace of a James Prentice born 1878 or 1880. Parents Hugh Prentice and Elizabeth Adams. Army service in India circa 1900 and then Post Office in UK until retired circa 1940. First wife Katie Higgins which he divorced hjis DOB was given as 1878. Second wife Euphamia Livingston McInnes married in Edinburgh his dob was given as 1880. Died in Edinburgh 1945. May have been born in India. Army record no longer available destroyed in WW2 blitz. GPO no longer hold records for that period. James Prentice is my wife's maternal grandfather.
