Thanks to a lot of nice people who have tried helping me find information about my gr. gr. grandfather, William Rhodes born abt. 1800, and his parents. This has really been a brick wall and now that I am 86, and time is getting short, I would like to go out knowing something about my ancestors. Here it is as far up the line as we have been able to go: William Rhodes/Rhods/Rhoads/ was born about 1800 (old Bible ) but we do not know where. He married a woman named Susan born abt. 1810; nothing more on her. Their first child, George Washington Rhodes, was born in Pasquotank County, 20 November 1833 and married Rebecca Cartwright 13 February 1859 who also lived in Pasquotank County. This is documented so we can be sure of George. This family must have moved on to Craven County since William James Rhodes, my grandfather, was born in New Bern and later relocated to Beaufort County. This is where the whole shebang started, and the line is up to date. People are born, marry and died but I have nothing beyond George W. Rhodes. My gut feeling is his pa came from Bertie or one of the counties annexed from Bertie. So there it is good people; help will certainly be appreciated. My line is on the Beaufort web site just go to the Featured Section to William J. Rhodes Family - picture and family tree. That can be found: www.ncroots.com/Beaufort/rhodes.htm Thank you for your time ... Bill | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
