Benjamin Holcomb – Who is he? We believe he was born abt 1812 in New York state. He apparently died in April 1850 (U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules Index via Amazon.com). We believe his parents were Loami and Hannah Holcomb. Others believe this too but provide no evidence we have seen. His family is found in Harrisville Township, Medina Co., Ohio in 1850. The family is headed by his wife Sabra (Rouse) Holcomb. See Ancestry.com census image 20 of 36. There are two other Holcomb widows heading families on the same page. We do not know who the parents of Sabra Rouse might be nor have we found any trace of her after the 1850 census. We believe she was born abt 1811 we believe in New York. We know Benjamin was the administrator in 1849 of the estate of Hiram Holcomb, a son of Loami Holcomb. Loami Holcomb deeded land to Benjamin Holcomb which is recorded on 3 December 1832. Two other deeds are listed on that same date in Medina Co., Ohio to two others which we know are sons of Loami Holcomb. Solving this puzzle would put a large hole in one of our most sturdy brick walls. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
