Help for CousinConnect.com: Posting Queries

To post a query, click on the "Post a Query" link on any page. You will be taken to a form where you can enter the text of your query and any surnames and locations associated with the query.

You will be asked for your email address when you post so that you can be contacted by potential cousins. However, we take privacy very seriously and we will not reveal your email address to anyone. Anyone who wishes to contact you will have to do so using a form on our site. We also strongly recommend that you do not include any personal information in the text of your query, such as your telephone number, address, or email address.

You must enter at least one surname to associate with the query, and you may enter up to three surnames. Below the surname fields is a list of countries that you may select to associate with your query. You may choose more than one country by holding down the Ctrl key while selecting. For some countries you will have the option of selecting state, provinces, or counties on the next page of the form. It's to your advantage to specify the location as precisely as possible.

For example, if you choose "United States" on the first page, you will get a list of states on the second page. If you choose "Maryland," you will then have the opportunity to choose a county in Maryland. If you then choose "Baltimore County," your query will appear on the United States page, the Maryland page, and the Baltimore County page.

You will also be asked for a password to protect your queries. The password is to ensure that only you will be able to edit or delete your queries. You will also be asked for a secret question that only you will know the answer to, that we can use to verify your identity in case you lose your password.
