I am working on a family history. In the process of researching, I found an obituary for my Great Grandmother. Until then, we had no idea who her parents or siblings were, everything was an utter dead-end. Now, I am looking for information on a John Eik who lived in Duluth in 1943. He is described in my Great Grandmother's obituary as her brother. G.Grandma's name was Martha M. Olson. Her maiden name was Anderson. She was married to Olaf Palm Olson. In some places the last name was spelled OLSEN. Olaf was often called O.Palm... Martha and her parents, and presumably her siblings as well, immigrated to the USA in 1887 from Stavanger Norway, going to Forest City, Iowa. The following year for some mysterious reason, we find Martha in Albert Lea, Minnesota, where she meets and marries Olaf. They were married on November 26, 1888 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Right afterwards, they moved to Forest city. Over the next 21 years, Olaf and Martha had 10 children. They continued to live in the Forest city area until 1915, when they moved to Douglas County, Minnesota. Martha and Olaf lived there until thier deaths (Olaf in 1937 and Martha in 1943) There were three other sisters also surviving at the time of Martha's death. Hannah Anderson of Norway, and Miss Inger Anderson of Britt, Iowa and Mrs. Martha Benson of Britt, Iowa. IF any of this rings a bell with you, please contact me! I am very curious as to why Martha's maiden name was Anderson and John's was Eik, and why there were two daughters named Martha. Olaf and Martha have well over 100 descendents today. We'd like to find out where Martha came from, and who her family. Lisa Casserly
