Having a bunch of young children, he married a widow, Mary (Barr) Chapman and promptly set off with his eldest son, Franklin (b. 1839) to fight in the civil war. Benjamin was killed a few months after Mary gave birth to Benjamin F. Ford, and the rest I know, but . . .
