I am looking for information on the Massy/Massey family from GA or SC. James Massy (b: 1850 GA)migrated either alone or with his family to TX after he was born. He shows up in the Milam Co. TX first as a farm laborer in another household (1870 census) and then with a wife, Theodosia (born in TX), and 5 children: Tranquilla (b: 1872), Abner Riley(b:1874), Peter M.(b:1875), Mary C.((b:1877), and Genia (b: 1879)in the 1880 census. Tranquilla, whose was known as Latranquil, and most of her siblings were returned to northeast GA (Stephens, Banks, Habersham county area) in the 1880's and dropped off to be raised by other families. We suspect that their mother had died in TX. Latranquil, who is my great grandmother, married James T. Ayers and had 7 children: Roy,Seaborn,Juddson, Plumer,Gresham, Della, and Lorena. She died in 1901. Mary Massey married a William Moore Hayes when she was 37 and they had one son together, Harry, who lived in Decatur. Mary died in Arnoldsville GA in 1960. Mary was known to visit a relative from Tyler TX known as "Doc" Collins, which I believe is Theodosia's maiden name. Genia lived in Toccoa GA and married a Ragsdale. Abner Riley lived somewhere in GA where he started a family with Minnie (last name unknown), then moved to Taylor county FL. They had about 9 children, the youngest, Doris and Dorothy, were born in the 1920s and may still be living but, of course, could have different last names. There is nothing known about Peter M. I would like to hear from anyone from this Massey line and would like to know, what happened to Theodosia and James, why he distributed his children across GA, what happened to him afterwards, and what his ancestry line is. I would also like to learn about the descendants of Theodosia Collins Massey's brothers, who were Andrew J. Collins (b: abt. 1855 TX), Seaborn Collins (b:abt. 1857 TX), Richard Collins (b: abt. 1850 LA), or Calvin V. Collins (b: abt. 1848, LA). Was the Doc Collins of Tyler, TX that my great Aunt Mary Hayes used to visit a child of one of these? thanks
