I am trying to obtain information on my (6 greats)grandfather, William Scally, who came to Virginia in 1769-70 on the brig Fanny as an indentured servant to Fielding Lewis, George Washington's brother-in-law. He moved on to SWrn VA in the 1770s and fought in the American Revolution. He settled in Davidson County Tennessee and died in 1823. There is speculation about the line of descent which seems to go through Williamson County TN. However, that branch of the family retained the surname spelling of Skelly and Skelley and went on to Maury County TN. My gr-gr-gr grandfather, Pyor (Prior, Prier)Scally was a Baptist minister who retained the original surname spelling and went west to Madison County TN, then to Tippah County MS. He married Henrietta Ragsdale Dec. 14, 1824 in Williamson Co TN. They had 10 children. If anyone can provide any information on William Scally, his arrival in America, indentured servitude, service in the American Revolution, wife, children or place of burial, I would be happy to exchange information on my branch of the family- William Hull Scally, Pryor and Henrietta's oldest son and second child.
