I am searching for any information on my great grandfather. I have been told that his name was Leander Martin and that he was married to a native American, Nancy. My grandfather was Marion M. Martin. He was born in Maryville, Nodaway County, Mo about 1871. He died November 03, 1922 in Mint Springs, Howell County, Missouri. He married Martha Irene Swope in Salem, Ar Feb. 18, 1892. He homesteaded land in Camp, Fulton County, Ar.Marion and Martha were parents of these children: John Thomas b. 1894, James Marion b.1893 (served in the army at Camp Beauregard where he was crushed between two box cars while hooking them together. Grandmother Martha drew a pension from his death.)
Other children: William Walker b. 1897, Jeremiah Hobson b. 1899, Henry Cash b.1903, Anna Louise b. 1907 and Pearl Irene b. 1912. Marion, Martha, James and Henry are buried in the Camp Cemetery in Camp, Ar.
From aunts and uncles I have been told that Marion had a brother Thomas Leon (Last known was living in the Kansas City, Mo area. Also a sister, Teletha and a Matilda.
