You are contacting the submitter of the query: I am anxious to trace any information concerning my Great Grandfather -a coalminer called Thomas REYNOLDS. He emigrated from South Shields in England in 1881 and in Colchester, McDonough Co. in 1885 he married another immigrant – Jane Elizabeth BEXSON who with her parents and siblings had emigrated from Nottinghamshire. They settled in Canton Township in Fulton Co. He died in 1930 and she in 1938. They were childless. My Grandfather was born in 1882 in England and was the son of Thomas REYNOLDS and Sarah SMITH. Thomas and Jane Elizabeth were both buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Canton. I think he probably did know that he had a baby son who was born after he left for the U.S. but neither subsequently crossed the fishpond, and so they never met. I have discovered that at around the time of the couple’s deaths, Jane Elizabeth’s brothers were Albert and Joseph BEXSON, both living in Canton, and William in Colchester. She also had a sister – Mrs George FOSTER in Cuba, IL. I wondered whether any of my Great Grandfather’s American nephews or nieces may have had a photo of my Great Grandfather and his wife? Any information would be most welcome. I have all the paperwork supporting this information.
