Searching for the parents of my great grandfather,Felix Grundy Adams, b.1812 in TN(?). Felix married Hulda Ann Shields b. 1820 (daughter of John Shields and Elizabeth Pauling (or Paulding) from Perry County AL. The Adams owned a farm in Marengo County AL and had 12 children named John Howell, James Calhoun, William Leroy, Harriet Elizabeth, North Carolina, Eliza Kelly, Robert Pau(d)ling, George F., Laura, Walter Benjamin, Thomas Felix, and Julia.
After Hulda died in 1867, Felix married 2nd wife Sarah Powell. They had one child named Powell O. born 1869. Possible that the first 4 or 5
children were born in Dallas County, where the family also owned land sometime before 1860.
We have not been able to find the parents of Felix Grundy Adams. But we think that Felix was born in Tenn. but the fact that he and Hulda had a child named North Carolina, could also be a clue. Also, some of their children's middle names seem to be family names. The 10th child, Walter Benjamin Adams b. 1857 and d. 1906, was my grandfather. He moved from Marengo to San Antonio Texas and spent most of the 1880 in S.A. He married May Crawford in 1889 or '90 then moved to Devine TX and established the Adams National Bank, a merchantile store and owned several farms. May and W.B.'s daughter, Fannie Ilene, was my mother.
