His daughter, Elisabeth Wille was my great grandmother so I am reasonably sure he had a wife with her name possibly being Dora. My great grandmother, Elisabeth, was born on April 13, 1853in Gross Wanzer, Altmark, Stendal, Sachsen-Anhalt. Elisabeth married Johnan Heinrich Christian Carl Meyer b. December 31, 1838 in Eldena, Mecklenburg, on September 28, 1872 in Cook County (Chicago), IL at the First Zion Lutheran Church. They all were on the ship Vandelia coming to the US from Hamburg on May 4, 1872 landing in NY. In the 1880 census they are listed at Chas. and Elizabeth Meyer in Read Twp, Clayton Co., IA. John Carl died in 1912 and Elizabeth died in 1925. They were buried under the surname of MEIER at the Clayton Cemetery, in Read Twp, Clayton, Co, IA. The spelling of Meyer was changed to Meier around 1890. They had 11 children with the first 9 born in Clayton Co., IA and the 2 last born in Postville, Allamakee Co., IA. Around 1890 they moved to Postville, Allamakee, IA. Then before 1905 they moved to Bloomfield Twp., Winneshiek Co., IA.
