William Christian and his wife Margaret nee Moughtin arrived in New York State in 1846 together with Margaret's father John Moughtin (became Morton in USA)and her sister Catherine and husband William Cowley & children. They were all from the Isle of Man and lived in Monroe Co. Margaret & Catherine were cousins of the Rev.John Morton, a tailor of Rochester and twins William & Thomas, also tailors of Bergen, Genesee. The family were also connected to the Collister
