I am searching for information on the parents of my Great grandfather, George P. McNeil. He was born in April 29,1828 in Tioga Co.,New York. The 1850 census finds him 23 and single. He married Amanda S. Harper in 1852. Amanda was born in Ohio. They had 4 daughters, Lois J, Mary L,and Flora I and Clara McNeil. The first son, my Grandfather, William P. McNeil was born in Michigan in 1863. The 1860 census shows George's occupation as Merchant. It maybe that he had a brother, Uncle or cousin named Henry since the 1850 census finds a Henry McNeil a Grocer born in New York living in Lawton, Van Buren Co., Michigan too. My Grandfather and Great grandfather with their families are buried in Oakgrove Cemetery, Lawton, Van Buren Co, Michigan.
