1954 and 1957...Surnames: Newton,Mills..Birth Aunt& Uncle. Aunt born december 20,1954.birth father last name of Mills. Birth mother(my grandmother) was only 19 at the time. I dont have a lot of information. From what it sounds like it was a private adoption(at birth). born at santa monica hospital. but went to santa barbara when finalizing adoption,which i am assuming is where this family lived? I have tried the CA birth index but came up with nothing useful. I have come to understand from reading, that dates typically changed and names too ..so am assuming thats what happened. she is not listed with my grandma's surname on the index.The boy was may 29, 1957.She stayed at st.annes for unwed mothers,gave birth at la county general. she went to see him in nursery and couldnt give him up. named him steven william newton.she kept him 3months and tried but she was single..divorced from my mothers father and with my mom(my mom was first child). she worked as a waitress. and could not afford a sitter.(my great grandma pretty much raised my mom most of her life) the family who adopted lived in long beach area. she thinks it could be the name "brown"that is the surname of adoptive family. but to be honest. she hasnt spoken to anyone about this because of how they treated this happening. i knew about it but only since my mom passing away recently has she told me everything. so not sure about brown surname..i have more details, but to respect her privacy i am choosing to not publicly display it all online. i love my grandma so much. and i hate that she held this in for as many years as she did.things were so different then. i never really thought about just how much so it was until she told me everything..if these dates sound familiar at all, please email me and i'd be happy to give more information..Thank you..:)
