around jan 3rd 1981 a boy was born to susan l. vandenboom & james T Howe. both parents were residents of quincy ill. & were very much in love with each other. when ms. Vandenboom parents learned that thier catholic daughter was expecting a child out of wedlock they sought counsil from a preist who directed them to take her to wisconsin. a home for unwed mothers to have their children to give up for adoption.
The exact location of this place i'm unsure. But I Know its located in the triangle area from..TOMAH, MAUSTON, NEW LISBON, & NECEDAH. juneau county, wisconsin. I am the birth father looking for my son. here are the facts as i know them.
birth date jan 3rd 1981 (est)
was given name on original birth certificate was "baby boy Vandenboom" & I was listed as the Father. about 2 months after his birth i was contacted by the state of wisconsin to give up my parental rights so the child could be placed for adoption. My reply was "NO" so i sought the help of an attorney his name was HOLLIS THOMPSON(unsure about the spelling exactly) i made several trips to juneau county wis. I did have a few supervised visits with him. at that time the nuns were calling him Titus John. in late august of 1981 a trail was held on behalf of the child. a guardian ad litum, an atty for the state, & my atty Mr. Thompson & myself & my mother as witness.
the judge in the case determined that because my resources were dismal being just out of high school that the child would & could perhaps have a better life if i were to give up my parental rights as he put it "FOR NOW""ANYWAY" & should my situation inprove i could patition the court for a new ruling. by the time my situation improved the court records where sealed because its what they did when a juvenile was involved. I have 1 picture that i took on my last visitation. I have always wondered if i did the right thing?
