Looking for info on my great grandfather. Not sure of the first name. I have several documents and they all list different names. HG, Henry, H Jene, Eugene, or maybe James. One picture list Hugh Gene. He was born in 1865 and died in 1928. Could be from KY and his father possibly Henry. I found a James born in the same year from Wolfe County, KY but can't find any other info. He married my great grandmother Dora Hornbuckle in 1908. They lived in Hardeman County, TN. They are both buried there also in the New Hope Cemetary. They had 5 children; Clay, Clinton, Maggie, Eugene (my grandfather), and Boatman. I have been trying for years to research this and keep hitting a brick wall. I was told as a child that he worked for the railroad before they married and met in Roger's Springs, TN. He carried a gun and always wore black and rode a white horse. He was a very private person. She was not allowed to open his mail or anything. His death certificate list he was born in KY and father's name Hinery (could be Henry). Mother's maiden name starts with R but I can't make out the rest.
