You are contacting the submitter of the query: Records for Dr William Henry Bradley -- Grave in Paramaribo?
I'm trying to find birth / marriage / death / will / obituary / grave / census records for my wife's great grandfather. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1862 and died in Paramaribo, Dutch Guiana sometime in 1924 or 1925.
Apparently, he was quite an important person in early 20th c Dutch Guiana -- building the first 61 miles of railroad (1903-1912) and serving as US Consular Agent (1905-1909), owing several gold mines, acting as director (owner?) of Marowijne Company (gold placer mining) and owning several plantations (one of which was called "Mon Sort").
He died in about 1924, but we don't know the exact date and don't know what he died from or what happened to his estate.
He had 4 children in Paramaribo from 1910 to 1915 and they all emigrated to Canada with his wife (Mary Josephine Bradley nee Massiah) in Oct 1925. Mary was born in Georgetown, Demerara / British Guiana in 1884 -- daughter of Alexander Peter Massiah and Annie Coleman-Clarke.
I've found lots of consular records and 3 passenger records for Dr Bradley, but I have never been able to find his cemetary details or obituary or even his death date.
I suspect that he is buried in the cemetary of St Peter and Paul Cathedral in Paramaribo (now Suriname), but I have not yet been able to find any records for the graves contained there. I'm quite sure he was buried in a Catholic graveyard somewhere in Paramaribo and I expect that there must not be very many of those, so perhaps this would be an easy search? If anyone happens to live in Paramaribo or knows how I could find grave records there, I would love to hear from you.
I would also like to find his birth family in the US -- since we don't know anything at all about them. I think finding his death date might provide access to obituary records, which could in turn provide family information
