You are contacting the submitter of the query: UPDATED 12-7-09 - NURSE???? Were you a nursing student in fall of 1967 that gave up a son for adoption? In search of birth parents or siblings. Boy, born September 16, 1967 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette (Tippecanoe County) Indiana. Adopted by couple from Carroll County and have been told that I was picked up when 5 days old. Adoptive parents had 3 older girls. I now have 3 young children and would at least like to have medical background information, but if all parties are willing, would love to meet them too. My adoptive parents are both deceased. Adoption was handled by the Law Office of Bishop & Bishop in Flora (Carroll County) Indiana. My adoptive parents last name is Popejoy.
UPDATE: I did receive the non-identifying info from the Indiana Dept of Health. I was born at 8:33 am on Sept 16, 1967 - weight was 7 lb 12 oz - 19 inches long - Mothers age at time of childs birth was 19 - mothers birthplace was Missouri - mothers race is white - mothers education is not stated. I guess with being in Lafayette, she could have possibly been a student at Purdue University (just a thought).
UPDATE - My older sister (adoptive) was in a car accident in the winter of 1971 and was in the emergency room at one of the hospitals in Lafayette with a serious concussion. She remembers her parents talking about how the nurse taking care of her was my biological mother. She also remembers them saying in the car on the way home how thankful they were to her for giving them a son and for taking such good care of her. So if you were a nurse working at one of the two hospitals in Lafayette in the ER during the very early 70's and gave up a son in Sept 1967...Please contact me....Also found out that I was given up to Tippecanoe County Welfare Dept and then transfered to Carroll County Welfare Dept Your personal information will only be used to contact the submitter and will not be saved or used for any other purpose.
