Need help with Cole Family from Steuben County, New York. Looking for Frederick Cole's Parents. I am searching for answers to my family tree. I would love to have documentation through the Revolutionary War, so that I might be able to complete a DAR application. My Cole family tree originates with Frederick Cole; he was born 22 May 1835 in Hornellsville, Steuben County, New York. He is found in the 1850 Federal Census living with William D. Burdick, wife Hannah and their six children. Interesting fact; the family were carpenters, and on Frederick's death certificate as well as his Civil War Pension application it is listed as his occupation as a carpenter. In 1861 Frederick is living in Cook County, Illinois and on August 1st he enlisted into the Army. He enlisted as a private with Company K, 59th Illinois Infantry Regiment and served until 16 Feb 1863 when he was disablity discharged in Detroit, Michigan. He married Elsie Jane Parker on 13 Mar 1864 in Amsden, Montcalm County Michigan. The 1870 and 1880 Federal Census has him living in Fairplain, Montcalm County where he lived until they show up on the 1894 Michigan State and 1900 Federal Census Living in Edmore Village, Montcalm County. They are found in the 1910 Federal Census in Greenville, Ward 2, Michigan. They moved after the census to the "Old Soldiers Home" in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. He died 3 Aug 1912 in the Kalamazoo State Hospital and is buried in Green Cemetery, in lot 30 in the older part of the cemetery, east side closest to the church. His death certificate states that his father was a Solomon Cole of New York, mother unknown. According to Frederick Cole's Civil War pension paper’s he was born in Howard, Steuben County in 1834, and he had a sister named Eliza Brunson/Bronson wife of Thomas Brunson, who lived in Montcalm County, Michigan. From the union of Frederick and Elsie Jane (Parker) Cole came eight children all born in Montcalm County, Michigan, they are: Ella Eleanor Cole, born 22 Jan 1865, her death is unknown to me. She married Homer Eugene Blodgett and had at least one son; Hiram Cole, who was born 10 Sep 1866, and died before 1870; James Henry Cole, was born 18 Sep 1868, who married Emma J. Parker, and died 9 Aug 1925 in Greenville, Montcalm County, Michigan; Huldah Udelley Cole, who was born 18 Jul 1871, and married three times and had children from two of them. They were Jerry C. Brown (a daughter), Frances M. Coleman (no children), and James F. Ovenhouse (a son). She died 10 Dec 1911 in Ionia County, Michigan; Calvin H. Cole, who was born 18 Oct 1875, he married Gracie Mae Storey and had five children, and he died 15 Apr 1919 in Montcalm County; Miloe Frederick Cole, who was born 16 Oct 1876, he died in his youth on 12 Feb 1882 in Montcalm County after being struck by a falling tree; Florence Elsie May Cole, she was born 19 Jul 1878, and married Lumon E.
