HARRIS, Robert (1737-1807) a druggist in Fleet Street, London in 1760s, later at 20 St Pauls Churchyard, London. From 1793, Robert owned Rectory Manor, Croydon in Surrey, where he was a Commissioner of the Peace (magistrate) until his death in 1807. Robert Harris married twice, with children born to both marriages. My ancestor was the 6th child to his second marriage, Charles HARRIS (1791-1872), a surgeon, with a practice in Fenchurch Street, London, until he retired to Hove/Brighton in the 1850s. He died in Brighton in 1872. Charles and his wife, Sarah Rose HOLT (1792-1863) had 9 children - 5 sons and 3 daughters. Two daughters married. Rose Parker Harris married Joseph James FOOT, a silk manufacturer, and later James LEWIS, a builder. Maria (1828-1909) married Thomas WICKENDEN, a farmer. Two sons, Robert and Samuel, immigrated to the new colonies in Australia in the 1830s and 1850s. Seeking links with HARRIS researchers in England. margaret(at)cremorne1.com (Sydney, Australia)
