You are contacting the submitter of the query: SHAW, STEARNS, JARRARD/GERARD, KING: A bio of Col. BENJAMIN CORY SHAW was published in the "History of Decatur County, Indiana," but it only says that he was probably the 5th child of SARAH (STEARNS)& JAMES SHAW, born and raised in near Oxford in Butler Co, Ohio. My husband's GGrandfather HENRY appears to be a brother of Benjamin. I would like to know the rest of his family as well as anything of the STEARNS & earlier Shaws. The Ships Passenger Lists have a William Shaw family emigrating from Liverpool in 1818. Was this his family? JAMES SHAW was said to have come with his family from England but died around 1845 after which Sarah married ISAAC WOLVERTON. After 1850, they and other Shaws I assume to be sons moved to Franklin & Decatur Counties, IN. I have not been able to find their deaths nor cemetery records. Only Benjamin seemed to live past 1880. Henry married CORNELIA JARRARD/GERARD in Greensburg, Decatur Co.,IN, in Jan, 1871, son JOHN C was born in Nov. 1871, and both parents died in 1879. Son Johnnie is found living with JOHN & EMMA KING in 1880 who do not appear to be relatives. Did they adopt him? He married Martha Butler from Brooksville in 1897, and they had only one son, SHARON JEHU SHAW. So few Shaws left but many questions. Any more info would be greatly appreciated.
