I am trying to find any information about Rev. Jason W. CRANDALL who was featured in an article in the Brookfield N.Y. Courier newspaper dated Wednesday, August 17, 1898. The first paragraph chronicled his life's journey:born in the town of Westford, Otsego County, NY on February 18, 1825 and lived there 9 years, moved to Otego, NY and lived there 2 years, moved to Smyrna, NY and lived there 30 years, moved to Eau Galle, Wisconsin and lived there 28 years, and came to Brookfield, NY where he married his present wife (name not given). The second very long paragraph told of his Christian conversion, being led to the ministry, that he preached at many funerals, and that he taught Christian classes. Now, I believe this is the same Jason Wilbur Crandall who married Ruth McDONALD (b 31 May 1824 NY and d. 1902 Durand, Pepin Co., Wisconsin) in 1844.Jason and family are shown in the 1870 Eau Galle, Dunn Co., Wisconsin Census. According to the book, Growin' Up with Men and Machines, written by a great grandson of Jason Wilbur Crandall, Henry E. Beck in 2006,Jason Wilbur Crandall married Ruth McDonald in 1844, could not resist the lure of the West, left their homein the vicinity of Plymouth, New York in 1868, along with their children, stopped in Michigan where Ida May was born, then, Jason, his family settled on a farm in Eau Galle, Dunn Co., Wisconsin, and that after the children were grown Jason Wilbur Crandall left the family and no-one ever knew what happened to him even though they suspected that he returned to New York. I would appreciate the name of the wife mentioned in the 1898 article, his death date, place of death, where he was laid to rest, at what church he was affiliated, and a source for information concerning Brookfield, NY ministers circa 1898--- "possibly" he was a Baptist minister. I will share all that I discover with anyone interested. Thank you very much!
