Both siblings were born in the Lafayette Parish area in 1903 and later migrated to the Houston area in the 1940s. Alice Simmons died in 1961 and her brother, Martin, died in 1957 in Houston. Their parents were Valerie Granger and Euphrosine White, residents of Lafayette Parish. Euphrosine White was born in 1872 in St. Martinville and died in 1946 in Houston. She was the daughter of Martin White(1845-1919), a civil war veteran of the 73rd colored infantry, and Felonise Barnabe(1850-?0,both free persons of color.
