I was born July 24, 1959 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kansas City, MO and placed for adoption with Catholic Charities at St. Anthony's Infants Home that used to be located on Paseo Blvd. I was named Cheryl - I remember finding an old letter that had the last name literally cut out but the first name - Cheryl - was left in the letter. I was told my birth mother was in her late teen's or early 20's and my birth father was in the military - possibly Navy - and lived in S.California. I was told my birth father was engaged but wanted to call off the engagement to marry my birth mother, however, his father threatened him with being disowned - so he went ahead with the wedding. My birth father's family reportedly paid for all of my birth mother's medical expenses throughout the pregnancy, the birth and adoption expenses through Catholic Charities.
