I am searching for my birth mother Joan Irene Dawson. In 1963 her address was 89 Revelon Road, Brockley SE4. In 1963 she was around 19 years old. I was born on 22 November 1963 at the British Mother and Babies Hospital,Samuel Street, Woolwich SE18. The adoption was through the Church of England and the Guardian-ad-Litem was a Mrs Letts of 54 Maidenston Hill SE10. I believe as part of the adoption she was my godmother. I court record shows that I was legally adopted on 8th April 1964 at Woolwich County Court. The few months before my adoption I have been told that Joan had tried to make contact with my parents and left gifts for me and brother. The gifts were a toy trunk and a pram set in lemon. I also believe she tried to leave money as well. Joan got married and her name was Joan Whatley and I understand that I have a half sister.
