Steve Cherko is my great grandfather. He immigrated we believe in 1907 from Russia. According to military records it was G.A. Russia (Georgia). According to family he considered him self Ukrainian white Russian. He recieved honorable discharge on 27 September 1919 from the u.s. army. company a, 2nd machine gun battlion 1st infantry brigade. He married Ida Bell Cloud in 1922. My grandfather Benny Cherko was his son. Having 4 children total. Eugene, Dosey, and Gertie. We believe he may of had an affair having at least one other child. in which my grandfather knew about being he mentioned having a half brother. We think his name may have been Steve. We also know that when Steve immigrated he was a stowaway on a ship with his brother Peter?. We believe his birthdate was 12 -29 1888/9. His real last name is in Russian. When it was first translated as ( Kirk) Cherko. Or Kirkacherkof. I have the actual spelling but its in Russian. Something like this. Kpurenko Cmeopah (tt). Any help with this family would be appreciated!
