Sarah E. Wentworth was born in PA on Dec 29, 1839, My 3rd great grandmother, and she died as Sarah E. Martin in Park Rapids, Hubbard Co., MN on Oct. 26, 1912. She married a William (Sven) Knutson / Knutson in Minnesota- he is buried in Marshall Oklahoma March 09, 1909. William and Sarah's children were: Augusta Knutson / Knudson married Robert SHEILDS, Charlotte S. Knutson / Knudson married Thomas M. WHITE, John Knutson / Knudson (married unknown), and Mary Elizabeth Knutson / Knudson who married Clement G. STERNER.
Sarah rebelled when William (her husband) chose to move into the frontier country of Kansas and Oklahoma and left her family, taking only Augusta with her. She wrote now and then. When she could entice none of the other children to abandon their father, and rather than returning to them herself, she adopted a daughter as a companion to Augusta - adopted daughter named JESSIE. Sarah died, with only her daughter AUGUSTA SHEILDS at her side. William never remarried, only lived to see his children and grandchildren grow.
I don't know much on SARAH E. ( WENTWORTH ) KNUTSON / KNUDSON MARTIN, but am hoping someday to find out more of my 3rd great grandmother. I only own one photo of her and am willing to share along with any info I might have.
