I am looking for information on James and Elizabeth Bennett McClure and their ancestors. James' father was also named James, and was born in Ireland. I would also like information on James and Elizabeth's children, Lorena, John, Nancy, Solomon (b. 11 July 1826 in Buncombe County, N.C., d. 24 Feb. 1915 in Jonesburg, Montgomery County, MO), Henry (died in childhood), and Elizabeth. All the children were probably born in Buncombe County, N.C. Elizabeth Bennett was born in N.C. and died sometime after 1840 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. James McClure was born in N.C. (or possibly S.C.) and died about 1829 (presumably in N.C.). James and Elizabeth were married in Spartanburg, S.C. (probably in the early 1800's). Shortly after James' death, Elizabeth and the children moved to White County, TN, where they lived for about seven years, and then to Louisville, KY. Their son, Solomon, was married on 22 July 1849 in Louisville to Mary Arnold Bast (b. 11 July 1823 in KY). After Mary Arnold's death on 15 May 1854, he married Martha Baker on 20 March 1855, in Louisville. Solomon and Martha eventually moved to Fayetteville, AR, and Springfield, MO, briefly, before settling at Price's Branch, Montgomery County, MO (near Jonesburg). I need information on the ancestry of both of Solomon McClure's wives, especially his first wife, Mary Arnold Bast who is buried in the Baker Family Graveyard in Mercer County, KY.
