Seeking Scottish ancestors with surname of Milner. My American Milners appear to have Scottish and or English roots. Edward Milner was born 1745-1746, place of birth unknown. He later lived in Loudoun County, Virginia. About 1800-1804 he moved to Belmont County, Ohio. Genetic testing has also revealed that Edward Milner shared a most common recent ancestor with the Milner line of Harrison County, Kentucky, who was born at least several generations before 1745. Furthermore, genetic testing revealed a 37/37 match of genetic markers on the Y-chromosome with Thomas Milner, d. 1827 Harrison County, Kentucky and Amos Milner died Fayette, Indiana. A genetic match of 34/37 genetic markers also exists between descendants of Edward Milner and above mentioned Thomas Milner and Amos Milner lines. Isaac Milner, born ca. 1775 in Virginia later moved to Grayson County, Kentucky and about 1830 he moved to Wayne County, Illinois. Most settlers in the Appalachian Mountains were of Scottish, Northern English, and Irish ancestry.
