Joseph Elliott was born on 18 Dec 1802 believed to be North Carolina. Joseph Elliott married Martha Lincoln on 18 Jan 1832 in Montgomery County, Indiana. Martha Lincoln was the daughter of Thomas & Patsy Gee Lincoln and a half third cousin to President Abraham Lincoln. Joseph owned land in Montgomery County until the fall of 1850 when he moved his family to the Cass Fulton County line in Indiana. They were the parents of twelve children:
