I'm researching my maternal great-great grandfather, James P. Moore, b. we think in VA 1821, though his mother (Nancy W. Moore b 1791 acc to her tombstone in Tate County, Miss.) was b. Tenn. Not sure of father's name, but as James P. had a son named Willis Moore by wife Sarah Jackson Moore, he might've named Willis or other son Armistead "Uncle Omp" Moore b 1867 or 1868, after a family member. Armistead's middle name was Forrest, and an older descendant thinks there was a family tie with Nathan Bedford Forrest. If anyone can shed light, I'd appreciate it.
