I am trying to locate information on the parents and siblings of Michael C Fitzgerald, my great-great grandfather. Michael (called Mack) was born in Ireland October 6, 1851. While he was still an infant, his parents brought him and his older brother and sister (I don't know any of their names) to the US. His parents died shortly after they arrived, and Mack was raised by an uncle (possibly in Vermont). At the age of 21 he spent time with an Aunt in New Orleans.
He then went to Champagne County, Illinois, where he met and married Clara Letitia Mitchell in 1876. In 1888, the moved to Nebraska, first Merrick County, then Nance County, and in 1909 moved to Fullerton Nebraska, where Mack died Nov. 14 1929 and Clara died Oct. 14, 1943.
Mack and Clara had six daughters; their oldest, Mabe Grace, married Will Smith; they were my great-grandparents.
We have no details of where Michael's family was from in Ireland or where they arrived in the US or exactly what happened to his parents and siblings.
