I am looking for my g-g-g-grandfather. I have tracked him back to the 1870 census, when he was living in McDowell Co WV. His name is James Marion Dancy at that point. His birthdate is 1846-7, and he died in 1907 in Greenbrier Co WV. He listed his state of birth as NC on the 1870 census his age as 24, and the family rumor has him being born in Ashe Co. He is believed to be an illegimate child. He changed his name to Wingler at some point in the late 1800's early 1900's, for an unknown reason, his headstone lists the name JM Wingler. He is buried beside his first wife, Sarah Garret Nelson, from VA. He married again, a young girl named Bertie after he changed his name. I am trying to get some idea of parentage for him.
