You are contacting the submitter of the query: my kennedy and mccarthy families immigrated from cranbourne, quebec canada circa 1867-1869 (most likely landed at port huron or detroit or both in august of 1869) and settled eventually in greenleaf, meeker county, minnesota...the mccarthy's came over with the harbi(n)son's and courtney's from the same area of quebec, canada the frampton/cranbourne, quebec area. the kennedy's and part of the mccarthy familes moved to degraff, kildare, swift co., mn in the late 1870s to early 1880s...john kennedy married margaret mccarthy (a great aunt to sen. eugene mccarthy "the watkins wonder") in cranbourne, quebec and they had anywhere from 12-14 children...mike, thomas, john bernard, timothy david (known also by initials t.d.), mathew, dennis, andrew, anna j., katherine, mary ann, ellen, margaret, possibly a francis, possibly others...
john kennedy the father completed a naturalization application in nov. of 1870...and lists he immigrated in august of 1869...his son mike kennedy born 1851 in cranbourne, quebec, canada lists immigration on the same month and year at the port of detroit in his naturalization peperwork filed nov. 1873 in meeker co., mn...son dennis kennedy in his naturalization paperwork filed in 1911 in ward/mountrail, north dakota indicates the same month of immigration and near detroit at port huron, michigan in 1872...an obvious mistake in year since he is seen living with his father's family in meeker co., mn in the 1870 census...he also overestimates his age by 4-5 yrs. in nearly every census as well as he is the youngest son apparently...) margaret mccarthy who married the father john kenendy is a sister to a michael j. mccarthy grandfather to eugene mccarthy (senator). margaret mccarthy kennedy's father timothy also made it over from cranbourne, quebec, canada (seen living as a neighbor in the greenleaf, meeker co., mn 1870 census and margaret's brother michael j. mccarthy as well as a dennis mccarthy (either margaret and michael j., mccarthy's younger brother or older nephew) both signed timothy mccarthy's 1873 naturalization paperwork as witnesses in meeker co., mn. The reason for the query is an attempt to find a meeker co. researcher who can find cemetery/burial records for the father john kennedy who may have died between 1895 to 1905 and possibly buried in a cemetery around forest city, forest prairie, watkins, harvey twp., or greenleaf twp., in meeker co. also mike kennedy a son to john kennedy and margt. mccarthy disappears after his naturalization paperwork in nov. 1, 1873 filed in meeker co., he would have been 21-22 yrs. old in nov. 1873...i am also wondering if he may have died and been buried in the same listed townships...lastly another son of john kennedy and margt. mccarthy, named andrew kennedy born circa 1857-58 also disappears after the 1875 mn state census....he was 18 yrs. old at that census....he cannot be found in any subsequent census listings anywhere...i am wondering if he may also be buried somewhere int he same toenships listed above in meeker co., mn...i am hoping i can find someone who may have access to these records to help me or that i may be able to pay to send me such records if found....another son john b. kenendy was a judge in the watkins area from roughly 1900-1906 time frame...john bernard kenendy born circa 1850-52 cranbourne, quebec, canada married harriet spaulding daughter of danville spaulding...spaulding was another family surname of the meeker county area...my e-mail is jrschult@hotmail.com and am looking for immed. help to mike, andrew, and father john kennedy's burials, death records, cemetery, etc. which may have occurred from roughly nov. 1873 to 1905 in meeker county in harvey, forest prairie, watkins, greenleaf, or forest city areas...
