My grandmother, Bertha Bales, born in 1888, fist mention of her was at 12 yrs old living in Switzerland County, Indiana. 1900 census lists her as an orphan living with Wm Mitchell family, Wm was 39 yrs old on the census. Would like info on her parents and the Mitchells. I doubt if she was adopted because she was listed as an orphan. Don't know if Mitchell's were family or not. Bertha marrie ...
